Dbpower projector8/3/2023 ![]() The device is also missing a zoom ring for adjusting your picture size. Playing or pausing a movie, for example, requires delving into the unfriendly menu. The remote is missing some controls when playing a file from USB as well. It’s one of the least intuitive UIs I’ve seen and navigating it can be a struggle. One particularly big con for me is the user interface. You can manually adjust its picture values but won’t get the same nice color reproduction you would from a BenQ. Image sharpness can also get fuzzy toward the edges and color balance seems a bit off. While you can get sharp center focus, you will see some noticeable pixel dots regardless of the picture size. The picture quality, for example, could definitely be better. It’s important to point out, however, that the projector also has some notable drawbacks. Otherwise, it can play video from any source with an HDMI-out port. In addition to photos, the T20 was able to play several video formats, including MP4 and MKV movie files, which you can play straight out of a USB stick. Its software, meanwhile, can handle a wide selection of file types. The inclusion keystone adjustment knob also means you can project at an angle and still get a straight picture. Image quality is sufficiently bright at 1,500 lumens. You can even stand it on its back and project on the ceiling should you be lacking a white screen or don’t have free wall space due to a preponderance of hanging paintings or picture frames. This is especially helpful if you don’t have a dedicated area for projecting an image or like to move it around. Its more compact footprint, meanwhile, makes the T20 is easier to move around and position. The BenQ I’ve been using, for example, typically costs between $600 to $700. At just $99, the T20 is significantly cheaper than many projectors out there. It also comes with vents for funneling heat out via a built-in fan. Atop the lens are two adjustment dials: one for focus and another for your picture angle. This means that you can also connect USB drives into the device and stream media directly from that. ![]() Connections include ports for an HDMI cable and USB as well. Admittedly, the lens cover looks more low-tech, featuring a string as opposed to the integrated plastic connector seen in more expensive projectors. The T20 actually looks nice, featuring a clean design and a modern looking body. It also comes with a remote for operating the device without having to use the built-in controls on the T20 itself. There’s a power plug for connecting to an outlet, a standard HDMI cable and an audio-video cable. The DBPOWER T20 comes in a compact box that includes the projector itself as well as some cables. So while I’m typically remiss to mention one product when I’m reviewing another, I feel this is important to mention as I offer my opinions on the DBPOWER T20. As a result, my expectations for how a projector should perform have been colored - no pun intended - by the BenQ. Prior to reviewing the T20, I’ve actually been using a BenQ projector for the last few months after borrowing it from a coworker. In the case of projectors, this is a statement that rings true literally and figuratively.
